The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has released the latest edition of “Best Management Practices for Florida Vegetable and Agronomic Crops.” It is available for download from Fresh from Florida.
Agricultural BMPs are practical measures designed to reduce the amount of fertilizer, pesticides, animal waste and other pollutants entering water resources.
They were developed with input from University of Florida researchers, Extension specialists, other experts, grower groups and growers.
The manual covers nutrient management, irrigation management and water resource protection.
Implementation of FDACS-adopted BMPs provides a presumption of compliance with state water quality standards.
