BASF has launched an SC formulation of its previously registered herbicide, Zidua, for use in corn, cotton, peanuts, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat.
The liquid SC, or suspension concentration, formulation provides one of the lowest use rates of any Group 15 herbicide, according to a news release.
Zidua contains the active ingredient, pyroxasulfone, a member of the new isoxazoline class of chemistry that delivers high intrinsic activity and broad-spectrum control of small-seeded broadleaf weeds and grasses.
The herbicide is a root and shoot growth inhibitor that controls susceptible germinating seedlings before or soon after they emerge from the soil.
As a Weed Science Society of America Group 15 herbicide, Zidua controls weeds resistant to glyphosate, (Group 9), as well as to triazines (Group 5), ACCase (Group 1), ALS (Group 2) and PPO inhibitors (Group 14).
